Update from Verd on COVID-19

With Covid-19 still active in our lives, AAAA Driving School is trying to provide onsite classes for the 2022 sessions if at all possible. If there is a school closure or at home learning by the DCSD, the driver education classes will go to an online format.

During the school year, the sessions will be held at my house, 6246 NW Blvd, Davenport, Iowa. The in-person classes will be 6:00pm to 9:00pm Monday through Thursday and when on Friday 4pm to 7pm. The drive times will be 5:30am to 7:30am, 4:00pm to 6:00pm and on Saturday and Sunday 6:00am to 4:00pm. Drives will leave from my house at 6246 NW Blvd, Davenport, Iowa 52806.

During the summer sessions I will be using Google Meets to provide live interactive sessions. Students must attend the class with me during the scheduled class times online. Class time will be 12 noon to 3:00pm. Drives will be 5:30am-7:30am, 730am-9:30am, 9:30am-1130am, 3:30pm-5:30pm Monday through Friday, Saturday and Sunday drives will be 6:00am to 4:00pm.

We will be adhering to the CDC standards set forth by the IDOT.

If driving brings concerns to you or your child, IDOT has given permission to complete the driving hours after the class.

A note from Verd for 2022:

The rate for 2022 will be $425. Stating a price for a year in advance is unheard of in the business world today. I will do everything possible to maintain the $425 rate this year.

There will be a $40 fee for NSF checks. If full payment is not completed on the first day, there will be no class attendance for that session. A no show/no call for a scheduled drive will result in a $40 rescheduling fee.

The week prior to each session I will call/email to establish drive times and issue the Google Meets classroom code.

Please realize the more time you spend driving with your child before them taking Driver's Education will benefit them and you in the long run. During the last two years of driver’s education, I have witnessed more kids with NO driving time or “an hour or two” than ever before. Driving is a learned skilled. I firmly believe that your child is taking the most important class in their high school career. The added stress of never driving before the first day of class hurts your child's psyche and could delay their driving adventures.

With AAAA Driving School being the last and only private small business offering driver’s education in Scott County, please realize that the sessions will fill up quickly due to supply and demand issues.  The in-person lessons are fading away in Iowa with computer taught classes becoming the norm. I am the only school offering in-person option this year in the area. The in-person class size will be less than 40 students per session during the school year. So please plan accordingly and reserve your child’s space early with a $100 deposit securing a space in the upcoming sessions. I don’t see scheduling getting any better for 2022, just worse as I normally fill up 4-5 months in advance.

The Iowa Department of Transportation is operating on a pre-scheduled appointments scheduling system for taking the permit test and to convert your child’s permit to a school permit or intermediate license. Since Covid-19 began they are about 4 weeks out in appointment times.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at 563-370-3778.
